Black NACS Tesla | NEMA 14-50 Compatible

Charging at home should feel effortless. No guessing, no resetting breakers, no wondering if your system can handle it. The Emporia Pro is designed to make Level 2 charging accessible for almost any home, while still giving you the flexibility to scale as your energy needs grow.

NEMA Plug vs Hardwired Installation

This is one of the most important decisions, and it directly impacts performance.
NEMA 14-50 Plug
If you already have a 240V outlet, this is the easiest path forward. It’s quick to install and gives you flexibility if you ever need to relocate the charger. The tradeoff is power. Plug-in installations are typically limited to 40A.
Hardwired Installation
If you’re thinking long-term, this is the better option. Hardwiring allows the charger to deliver up to 48A, giving you faster charging and a more stable connection. It’s a permanent solution, and it should always be installed by a licensed electrician.

J1772 vs NACS (Tesla)

The right connector depends on your vehicle today and what you may drive next.
J1772
This is the standard connector for most electric vehicles. If you are not driving a Tesla, this is likely what your vehicle uses.
NACS (Tesla)
Tesla’s connector is quickly becoming the new standard in North America. Many manufacturers are transitioning to this format, making it a strong choice if you want future flexibility.

GFCI Breakers and Why They Matter

This is where a lot of homeowners run into frustration. GFCI breakers are designed to add protection, but when paired with a Level 2 charger that already has built-in protection, it can cause nuisance tripping. That means your charger shuts off unexpectedly, and you end up resetting breakers more often than you should. The Emporia Pro already includes internal GFCI protection, so if your panel also has a GFCI breaker, it needs to be accounted for during installation to avoid those issues.

Installation, Done Right

Roughly half of homes require some level of electrical planning or upgrades before installing a Level 2 charger. The goal is not just to install a charger, it’s to make sure your home can support it properly alongside everything else you plan to add like a battery, heat pump, or additional EV. This is where most installs go wrong. At Grid Titans, we look at your full system, including panel capacity, load, and future expansion. The charger is just one piece of the bigger picture.

What This Means for You

You are not just buying a charger. You are setting up the foundation for how your home uses energy moving forward. The Emporia Pro gives you fast Level 2 charging up to 48A, flexible installation options, compatibility with today’s vehicles and tomorrow’s standards, and a system that can adapt as your home evolves. When it’s installed correctly, it just works every time you plug in.
